Knowledge, attitude and acceptance of amputation among amputee patients admitted in National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu - Nigeria

Background: Amputation is perceived differently across the globe hence study was designed to determine knowledge, attitude and acceptance of amputation among Amputee patients in National Orthopeadic Hospital Enugu. Objectives: The objectives were elicit level knowledge amputation, respondents towards amputation. Materials Methods: A descriptive cross sectional design used data collected using questionnaire. entire population (106) amputees studied. Data analyzed (SPSS) version 24.0 results presented tables. Results: Findings revealed mean age 35+2.25years. All (100%) aware that a treatment option save live. major factors affects preparation for procedure (mean 3.26+ 2.37), fear deformity 3.15+ 2.68), cost prosthetics 3.11+ 2.56), affordability 3.57+ 3.07) availability prosthetic device public 3.21+ 2.62).
